Likes: Quidditch, his friends, his sister, Muggle music, talking, Benny Hill, Pink Floyd, psychedelic rock, the Beatles
Dislikes: people messing with his friends, studying, birds aside from owls (thanks Alfred Hitchcock), war, rules he sees no reason for
Strengths: Wayne is confident in his abilities and in general, and one of those abilities is Quidditch. He'd do anything for his friends and he likes to think they'd do anything for him. He likes to think he balances his schedule well, leaving time for everything he has to do and things he wants to do as well.
Weaknesses: He can be a bit over-protective of his female friends. It comes from protecting his little sister, which became second-nature once Finola was able to walk. He's also not too good with studying: there are a million things he would rather do than his schoolwork.
Quirks: His eye twitches when he's nervous, which he occasionally gets during Quidditch matches and whenever he performs for a crowd, despite his confidence. He plays with his sleeves or collar while having a conversation and it only takes him around five minutes to start up.
Random: Wayne has scars on his legs from roller blading accidents, as well as a scar on his chin for the same reason.

Personality: Wayne has been adventurous since the moment he could walk. He was a climber as a toddler, and though he doesn't climb too much anymore, he's still never one to turn down a dare, no matter how ridiculous it might be. He usually won't do anything crazy unless prompted to, though. He possesses qualities valued by all houses. He's barely afraid of anything, which is why the hat considered him for Gryffindor. He's smart when he needs to be, though he has problems sitting down and getting his schoolwork done. Wayne is driven to succeed, especially when on the Quidditch pitch, and he likes to think he's good at dealing with difficult situations. His friends are extremely important to him, just after his family. He tries his best to help any one of them when they need it.

Wayne isn't easily fazed. It's difficult to ruffle his feathers, as he laughs most trivial things off. Problems with his friends get to him occasionally, though he doesn't usually let them affect his mood. Sometimes he figures they only need space, and if an argument gets too heated, he's likely to walk away, coming back when both parties are significantly calmed down. Wayne can be a bit competitive on the pitch, but he takes losses in stride. If his team doesn't win, they'll just have to try harder next time. He's generally laid back and fun-loving. If there's a party or any group gathering, he's there. He prefers being in a crowd to being alone with a small group of friends. The bigger a party is, the better, which is why he prefers multi-house parties. He holds no bias against the Slytherins or any other house, and while he competes against them on the pitch and can get quite aggressive, the aggression stays on the pitch and any friendship stays off the pitch. Wayne doesn't mix the two.

He's got some outlandish ideas for things that would never work in actuality. They work in his head, though, and his rather vivid imagination can play through the course of his idea working successfully. Often those are ideas for Quidditch plays, which, though he is not the captain and is content with never being so, he would like to suggest for use. The problem is that they rarely work. Wayne doesn't like rules much, or authority, though he obeys the important ones. He's familiar with detention for being out after curfew and other various reasons, but he's not one to prank. He's familiar with much of the hippie movement and believes in most of its ideas (opposition to war, anti-conforimity, sexual liberation - though he keeps that one separate from Hogwarts, personal freedom, etc.), though he hasn't done drugs. He likes being outside more than he likes being inside, and sits outside in the middle of the grounds in his free time, usually until curfew.

Wayne is very protective of his sister, and consequently rather protective of just about every single one of his female friends at Hogwarts, regardless of whether or not they can take care of themselves. He views nearly everyone as his little sister, and he can't seem to stop. If two of them are arguing, he tries to break it up without taking any sides. If one is getting unwanted attention, he is quick to step in to tell whomever to step off. It doesn't matter if they want him to step in or not, but if they do tell him to stop, he will. He'd rather have them tell him to stop than have someone make them uncomfortable who won't listen to a woman telling him (or her) to stop. Wayne does frequently hug his female friends, as much as he hugs his sister. He sometimes gets crap for it, but he doesn't care. That, along with many other things, doesn't faze him.

History: Born to a witch and wizard - both of less than pure blood - Walter Hopkins met muggleborn Beatrice Troy in his second year at Hogwarts, which was her first. The acquaintence rose through his sister, Gladys, who was starting her first year as well. His sister was sorted into Gryffindor, Walter's house, and Beatrice into Hufflepuff. Walter more or less paid very little attention to his sister in the early years of their education. Gladys and Beatrice were very close, though, and she frequently talked about her when they were at home. Beatrice also stayed at the Hopkins household on several occasions each summer until the girls left the school. Walter was more interested in sports - namely Quidditch and football - than in his sister's friends, and Beatrice, on a dare from Gladys, was the one to initiate a courtship. Walter guessed that his sister put her up to it, but after taking her up on it, he realized that there was a reason she'd been put up to it.

After getting over the shock of being asked out by a girl whom he'd ignored for seven years and had been ignored by in return, Walter and Beatrice went to see a film not far from the Hopkins's house in Wales. Beatrice also lived in Wales, so the relationship was convenient at the very least, though Walter still considered it to be more of a friendly outing than a date. Still, he found Beatrice's company pleasant, and at the idea of a second outing, he approved of it. He still didn't feel anything romantic for her, though, and that didn't happen until around five outings later. Almost two years after Beatrice's last year at Hogwarts, Walter ended up proposing. Needless to say, he expected his sister to be ecstatic after Beatrice accepted. The friend whom she had considered to be a sister wound up being her sister. Gladys was the maid of honor at their wedding, with Beatrice's brother, Matthew, standing up opposite Gladys.

After a week-long honeymoon in the south of Spain, Beatrice soon found out she was pregnant. Walter was initially shocked and wondered how it could happen so soon in their marriage. He wondered if either of them were ready for it. They had a house and he had a job, but he still had to wonder. Beatrice let him take the time to think about it, hoping he'd come around, and he did. There was no reason he could see to not be happy about it, and Wayne Cadell was born. He was a bit of a handful, but easily distracted and brought into line. He climbed the furniture a lot and got hurt often, but other than that he was a healthy baby. When he was three, his sister Finola was born. When she was old enough to walk, she started a habit of climbing like her older brother, and Wayne often had to stop her and keep her from getting too high while their mother was busy. When she got hurt, he told her it would be all right while they waited for their mother to fix it.

When his Hogwarts letter came, Wayne's parents both hoped he would get sorted into their houses, but he couldn't be in both. He'd shown signs of magic since the beginning of that summer, which thrilled them to bits and amused Finola since he couldn't control it. When he was sorted, the hat had a hard time placing him, so he was put in Hufflepuff. His parents had gotten him an owl, which he named Phil, so he could write home without having to use one of the school's owls. His first note home told his parents that he was sorted into Hufflepuff and found an interest in Quidditch, though he knew first years never made the teams. He waited until his second year to try out, and didn't make the team until his third. That was fine with him. He played Chaser, and soon Quidditch was on top of his list of favorite pasttimes.

Eventually, Quidditch became all he thought about, and at the end of his sixth year, he seriously considered going for one of the professional teams. There were the Caerphilly Catapults in Southern Wales, as well as the Tutshill Tornadoes. Of course, there was no reason he had to be on a Welsh team, so he made plans to try out for as many teams as he could once he was done with his schooling. The summer between his sixth and seventh years, he trained hard and for long hours in his backyard under concealing charms, usually until the sun rose in the morning. There were a few incidents that he'd been caught still flying when his father woke up for work, and he got in trouble for that many times, but he figured if he wanted to make a team, he was going to have to break some of his parents' rules. Why should he sleep when he wasn't tired? Wayne was already familiar with questioning various rules, as he'd done so throughout his education. Back for his seventh year, Wayne is eager for the year to end so he can get his auditions over with.

Astrology: Aquarians who are sorted into House Hufflepuff are introverted, but not shy; march to the beat of a different drummer, but don't wear their weirdness like a flag; socially minded, but highly critical of society. Confused? So are the Hufflepuff Aquarians, but they tend to sort things out eventually. Their minds lean toward the practical side of things - they'd rather invent new and useful spells or gadgets than dwell for hours in hot air theory - and the solutions they find to common problems are brilliantly on target. They like people and want to get along well with everybody, but are uncomfortable with intimacy; so they have lots of acquaintances but few close friends. They have the ability to laugh at most any situation.
